Rumours are swirling that the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market is planning to move back to River Landing, but a spokesperson for the co-operative says it’s not true.
Erin Pell isn’t sure how the rumour got going, but she says it’s not happening. They are happy at their current Airport Business Area location on Koyl Avenue and have no plans to go anywhere.
Pell stresses they are not involved with the market at River Landing. Gather Local Market is the name of the new project at River Landing which opened in June.
It’s organized by Ideas Inc in partnership with the City of Saskatoon.
The Saskatoon Farmers’ Market moved after its lease renewal was declined, because the City’s goal is to have something at that location that is open six days a week. The co-operative, now operating on Koyl Avenue, has been running since 1975. It’s been at the new location since 2020.
Pell says since restrictions from the pandemic were lifted, they have seen a marked increase in both vendors and customers. What she would like people to know is that the Farmers’ Market is open all through the year on Saturdays and Sunday and during the spring and summer months it’s also open on Wednesdays.
