A sigh of relief for everyone trying to get into or out of the downtown area.
The University Bridge reopened mid-afternoon Thursday after being closed for over 24 hours.
The structure had re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists in the morning, but minor repairs were required before the bridge could reopen to motorists.
Fire investigators confirmed the fire is suspicious and started from a household mattress located within one of the bridge’s arches.
The Saskatoon Police Service will continue their portion of the investigation. A damage estimate is not available at this time, according to a Fire Deparment news release.
