As of 4:00am Saturday morning, Saskatchewan had 38 active wildfires burning in the province, the most fires seen burning in the province at any one time this year.
Seven of them are considered not contained, 8 are where the focus is to protect property, 14 are under ongoing assessment, and nine are considered contained. There is an air quality statement for northeast areas of the province such as Pelican Narrows and Cumberland House.
It is caused by a blanked of smoke that drapes across northern Manitoba and also covers a large area of Ontario. There have been 231 wildfires to date, and the five year average is 150.
