You may see students decked out in caps and gowns this week because it’s spring convocation at the University of Saskatchewan. A news release from USask says this spring, 3,575 students are graduating, receiving 3,740 degrees, certificates and diplomas. One of those graduates is Yikai Ren, whose thesis research was around healthier pet food. He focused on low-glycemic pet food made with Saskatchewan pulse crops. Another graduate is Shanleigh McKeown, who has been awarded a 3M National Student fellowship. Ten fellowships are awarded to undergraduate students and together they are tasked with completing a funded project focusing on a big idea in teaching and learning. These two graduates and the others convocating this week join a century-old community of more than 170,000 alumni worldwide.
