The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Combined Traffic Services unit conducted proactive check stops in and around North Battleford, Glaslyn and Turtleford over the May Long weekend with three charges laid for having open alcohol in a vehicle, one charge for a minor with alcohol, 14 people charged for having a suspended license, or no license or only a learner’s license, and one person was charged with impaired driving.
As well, CTSS teams from Rosetown and Meadow Lake held a check stop on Highway 4 north of North Battleford on Friday from 5 pm to 8:45 with between 200 and 250 vehicles stopped. From that, 25 tickets were issued and 93 warnings. Fourteen trailers were taken out of service due to non-compliance with vehicle equipment regulations. Cpl. Ray Bouchard of Saskatchewan RCMP CTSS says the goal was road safety education as the summer vacation season begins.
