Environment Canada has released a special air quality statement for most of Saskatchewan except for the far north. It extends through all of Alberta and most of British Columbia as well. It’s because of the wildfire smoke which has moved south with a cold front.
Environment Canada says wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. People with lung or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant women and those who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by the smoke. Be sure to check on people in your care and those around you who may be more susceptible.
