The Saskatoon Fire Department was back at the site of the Sandman Hotel, under construction at 2815 Lorne Avenue. Around 9:30 last night (wed), a 911 call came in about a fire on the top floor of the building. Crews used an arial ladder to reach the sixth floor, where flame and embers were coming from the north west corner. Damage was limited to $2,000. There were no injuries and no cause has been determined yet.
About a month ago fire crews attended the same construction site where a fire was believed to have started on the upper west side of the structure. It took just under three hours to get that blaze under control. the Fire Department never indicated a cause for the fire.
