It’s my Parting Shot for some Tuesday Tidbits…..

With the Calgary Flames officially not going to be in the N-H-L’s Stanley Cup playoffs, after so much off-season and pre-season hype about how good they were going to be, who takes the fall? The popular choice amongst Flames’ fans is head coach Darryl Sutter…mostly because coaches are expendable and the players are darlings in their eyes! General manager Brad Treliving might be on the firing line, based on giving long-term, big-money contracts, with mediocre and below-average returns, from forwards Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazim Kadri plus defenceman MacKenzie Weegar. Maybe both get the boot! Anyway you slice it, this season has been a massive disappointment in Calgary!

So, what is that monstrosity of headwear the Los Angeles Angels place on the noggins of their players who hit a home run, upon crossing the plate?! And, to think people had a problem with last year’s home run jacket with the Blue Jays! It turns out every major league baseball team has some kind of weird home run or player-of-the-game ritual with visible symbol. The only reason why the home run jacket was picked on as being bad for the Jays was because people can watch every game and see it!

Speaking of the Jays, I am a big fan of having Kevin Kiermaier in centre field. Not just because of his defensive game, but he plays with hustle and is a smart base runner! I’m thrilled that he’s in Toronto and not beating them as he used to with Tampa Bay!

My busy playoff hockey schedule, for which I am grateful to have one, has meant that my T-V sports watching of recent has been restricted to “SportsCentre” and “Blue Jays in 30.” Otherwise, when I am home, my phone is turned off and I watch what my wife wants to watch! Truth be told, I’m addicted to all reality T-V and anything produced by Dick Wolf!
