This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. In years gone by we’ve often heard complaints about the cost to go to a WHL game. Maybe it wasn’t the game as opposed to how exciting the game seemed to be. Because it certainly hasn’t held back anybody going to the most recent round of play-off action between the Saskatoon Blades and the Regina Pats. I myself have gone to a couple of games and it cost my husband and I just over $60 dollars and I certainly didn’t feel it was money NOT well spent. It’s exciting, there’s a great vibe in the building, there’s everything you need whether you want to have a drink, alcoholic or not, if you want supper, if you want snacks and if you want people that are, for the most part, just behaving really well, deeply interested in the game of hockey, that’s the place to be. So, it is very good news that Hockey Canada asked Saskatoon to submit a bid to host the World Juniors in 2025 and it is also excellent that Saskatoon City Council has decided to offer up $500,000 to support that bid. Now its about getting all the rest of the money and planning in place as quickly as April 24th because that’s when the bid needs to be submitted. I know its a couple years away for possibly hosting the World Juniors but I hope we get volunteers out in good numbers to ensure that this is going to be an absolute success, if Saskatchewan has the opportunity to take the world stage.
