It would appear that Shea Patterson wants to be Trevor Harris’ back-up at quarterback again.
Saskatchewan announced Monday that they signed the import signal-caller, who spent the 2021 season with Montreal and the B-C Lions. During his time with the Alouettes, Patterson was used as a short-yardage quarterback, seeing action in five games and recording 11 carries for 18 yards. The 26-year-old spent two seasons at Ole Miss and later transferred to Michigan where he would play two seasons. In those campaigns, the Ohio-born pivot earned All-Big Ten Third-Team honours. After going undrafted in the 2020 N-F-L Draft, Patterson signed with Kansas City.
Meanwhile, the Roughriders also signed import defensive back Leon O’Neal Junior and import offensive tackle Jordan Turner.

RIDERS SIGN AMERICAN QUARTERBACK SHEA PATTERSON
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American quarterback Shea Patterson.
Patterson (6’2-202) signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2021, he played for the Montreal Alouettes and the B.C. Lions. During his time in Montreal, he was primarily used as a short-yardage quarterback, seeing action in five games and recording 11 carries for 18 yards.
Patterson played two collegiate seasons (2018-19) at the University of Michigan. In 26 games, the former Wolverine completed 424 passes for 5,661 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions while adding 163 carries for 323 yards and seven majors. The Louisiana native earned All-Big Ten Third-Team honours in both of his seasons at Ann Arbor. Prior to that, Patterson spent two collegiate seasons (2016-17) at Ole Miss. He saw action in 10 games and registered 238 pass completions for 3,139 yards and 23 touchdowns, also running for 153 yards and a touchdown.

RIDERS ADD FORMER AGGIE LEON O’NEAL JR.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back Leon O’Neal Jr.
O’Neal Jr. (6’1-204) signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after four seasons at Texas A&M (2018-21). The former Aggie appeared in 40 collegiate games, and tallied 161 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown, 12 pass deflections and one fumble recovery.
O’Neal Jr. played in the 2022 Senior Bowl, where he was named the top player at his in position in balloting from offensive players. Noted for his hard work, he won the Aggies’ Heart Award which is presented to a senior who has completed his eligibility and displays the intangibles such as effort, desire, determination, competitiveness, accountability, leadership and courage. He also brought home the Aggies’ Defensive Attitude Award, and Strength and Conditioning Award in his final year with the team.

RIDERS SIGN AMERICAN OFFENSIVE TACKLE JORDAN TUCKER
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American offensive tackle Jordan Tucker.
Tucker (6’6-340) signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and attended training camp with the team.
Tucker played four collegiate seasons (2018-21) at the University of North Carolina. The 23-year-old played in 45 games and made 35 starts, primarily at right tackle. In 2022, he was part of an offensive line that helped the Tar Heel offence average 212.5 rushing yards per game and 35.2 points per game, the second and third best mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference, respectively. The Georgia native made nine starts at right tackle in 2021 and helped the team average 537.3 total yards per game, which led the ACC and set a new school record. Following his senior season, Tucker participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
