It’s my Parting Shot to wonder about Connor Bedard (pictured) and Saskatoon…..
It seems like hockey fans in W-H-L cities, be they hardcore or casual, are understanding that if you want to watch Connor Bedard live and in person for a relatively cheap price before he moves on to the N-H-L and hundreds of dollars ticket prices next season, better do it now while you can and get the chance!
Last night, 17,223 people crammed into the Saddledome to see Bedard and the Regina Pats visit the Calgary Hitmen. He didn’t disappoint with a goal, an assist and a highlight reel shootout winning tally. On Tuesday, a Centrium-record throng for hockey of 7,287 almost burst the building at the seams to see the Red Deer Rebels out-last the Regina Bedards, sorry, 6-5 in overtime. Bedard had a goal and two assists.
Before the World Juniors, in which the consensus first overall pick in this year’s N-H-L Draft cemented that status with a gold medal and nine goals amongst 23 points in seven games, Bedard and the Pats played before sell-out or near sell-out crowds in all five B-C Division buildings!
So, what about Saskatoon? Does paying $25 for a ticket to see tomorrow’s N-H-L superstar today on either March 19 or 24 at SaskTel Centre appeal to folks?! Back on November 13, a Sunday late afternoon contest, the Blades drew a season-high crowd, to date, of 7,868 to see Bedard produce a goal and an assist while the Bridge City Bunch waltzed to a 6-2 triumph over the Pats.
Well, I’m thrilled and happy to say that pretty much all lower bowl tickets for both remaining Bedard visits are sold and accounted for! After last night’s T-S-N telecast from Calgary, Ticketmaster reported 500 tickets sold this morning before 9 for one or the other contest! As of this morning, there were about 8,000 tickets sold for March 19 and about 6,000 for March 24 with more upper deck section seats opened for purchase today!
Do I dare say sell-out for both games?! I want to!! Come on folks, let’s have some fun!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!…..
