It’s a one stop shop to access services and resources and it’s become an annual event in Saskatoon. YXE Connects Coordinator, Justin Fisher, says today’s (Mon) event at White Buffalo Youth Lodge and next door at City Centre Church on 20th Street will house almost 80 different service providers, from haircuts, tax assistance, legal support, and foot care to housing, education, and employment support. Since it began in 2015, more than 25-hundred community members have been served. Fisher explains the event is targeted towards vulnerable individuals and families who might not otherwise access these services and if you are new to the city and new to the country, it’s a great way to get oriented as to what is available. The Health Bus will be on location as well. It’s from 10 a.m. to 4 today (Mon). Fisher says although there has been progress, there are still a lot of people in a vulnerable position and there is a need for these services. The event is organized by United Way of Saskatoon & Area, the Food Bank & Learning Centre, Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership, and a committee of several other community-based operations.
