Snowfall warnings are in place for west-central, northwest and north-central parts of Saskatchewan. Saskatoon is on the edge of the weather system and may only see 5 to 8 centimetres of wet snow but for areas to the west and north, 10 to 20 centimetres of snow is forecast. The heaviest snow will fall in a band from Kindersley through the Battlefords then northeast into Prince Albert and La Ronge then eastward to the Manitoba border, where 15-30 cm is expected by Thursday evening.
This morning RCMP are advising that freezing rain conditions are present on Highway 11north of Rosthern. Lowering temperatures and recent rain are combining to produce treacherous driving conditions in affected areas. All highways in the areas affected by the snowfall warning are already reporting winter driving conditions as well as icy and slippery.
In the City of Saskatoon, in addition to the weather’s impact there is a traffic light at Circle Drive and Avenue C that is down. A timeline for restoration is not yet known so that means rules of a 4-way stop are in place and you need to expect delays.
