A busy week of cattle sales in Saskatchewan during the final week of October.
Canfax report 42,753 heard were sold—up 2,233 head from 40,520 head the previous week. Year-to-date, feeder cattle marketing is 16 per cent below 2021.
Feeder steer prices were mixed across all weight categories. Four-to-five hundred pound steers had the best week rising $4.40 for an average price of $298.10 per hundredweight. The weight category with the largest decline was 800-900 pound steers at an average of $232.50—down $7.31.
Average weekly prices for Saskatchewan feeder heifers were positive for weight categories below 600 pounds and there were declines for the heavier weights.

Prices of live, non-fed cattle in Alberta were down compared to the previous week. The price of D2 slaughter cows decreased $6.21 to average $97.79 per hundredweight. The price of D3 slaughter cows was down $2.50 to average $86.57 per hundredweight.
