The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan says the federal and provincial agriculture ministers should consider an extension of the June 20th crop insurance seeding deadline.

APAS President Ian Boxall says surplus spring moisture has delayed seeding over most of the eastern third of the province. He notes even a week extension would help some farmers.

Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) posted a video on social media of Jeff Morrow, acting SCIC president and chief executive officer.

“Keep in mind that corn, chickpea and hemp seeding deadlines have passed and the seeding deadline for soybeans is coming up June 2nd. June 20th remains the seeding deadline for all other crops,” Morrow said.
