Saskatchewan will have two teams to cheer for at next month’s Tim Horton’s Brier in Lethbridge.
Curling Canada released the 18-team field for the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship Wednesday. Besides Brendan Bottcher’s Edmonton foursome as Team Canada, due to being the defending champions, there are 14 provincial and territorial representatives and three wild-card teams. Matt Dunstone’s Regina foursome is one of the three wild-card squads and seeded fifth for the competition. They’ll be in the same Pool A as the team they lost to in the SaskTel Tankard final this past weekend, skipped by Colton Flasch. The Saskatoon-Nutana quartet is seeded seventh. Alberta’s Kevin Koe is the top seed and is in Pool A with Saskatchewan and Dunstone’s wild-card squad along with third seeded Glenn Howard of Ontario, ninth-rated Bottcher and Team Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Yukon.
