An outdoor community social space on 20th Street West is being erected today (Fri), built by Oxbow Architecture and the Core Neighbourhood Youth Coop. It’s part of the City of Saskatoon’s winter city initiative with funding through the Wintercity Micro Grant Program.
Brad Pickard with Oxbow says the installation includes an A-frame pergola along with lighting and furniture and the intent is to draw people off the street to hang out in the space, while making their way through this Omicron winter. You’ll find the pop-up social space between 301 and 313 20th Street West.
The A-frame was built off-site with help from students at CNYC and support from 3Twenty Modular. Oxbow Architecture hopes the project will spark future conversations in the community around the design of city infrastructure and public spaces during the winter months.
