Weyburn RCMP, along with other agencies and specialized RCMP units continue the search for a 39 year old man who went missing during Monday night’s blizzard. Police say Abraham Neufeld was driving a tractor near Tribune, which is south of Weyburn, and it got stuck. It’s believed he became disoriented while trying to make it home on foot. His tractor was found still running about a kilometre east or the community on Tuesday morning.

Weyburn Detachment Commander, Sergeant Brian Neilmeyer, thanks the residents of Tribune for their kindness and generosity, providing meals and hot drinks, and several who are familiar with the area have been assisting with the search. Neilmeyer says the efforts include extensive grid searches on foot and by snowmobile, and air searches by Civil Air Search and Rescue. Police are continuing to ask people unfamiliar with the area to not participate in the search at this time.

The following have been involved in the search over the past few days: Weyburn and Estevan RCMP Detachments, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Search and Rescue, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV), Civil Air Search and Rescue, local Ministry of Environment Conservation Officers and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers, Tribune Fire and Rescue and the Weyburn Fire Department.
