The Saskatoon Tribal Council initiated a campaign called #ActOnReconciliation after the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, and the City is now supporting this initiative. The idea is to harness the momentum for the whole year, keeping reconciliation top of mind all year long.
The City’s Director of Indigenous Initiatives, Melissa Cote, says on the last Friday of each month, including tomorrow (Fri), the City is encouraging all employees and the public to wear their Every Child Matter shirt or any other orange shirt. As well, consider taking up a Reconciliation action for the month, and use the hashtag #ActOnReconciliation to share what you are doing, challenging others to get involved as well.
The suggested action for January is adding a Land Acknowledgement to things like your e-signature, newsletter or website. You can learn how to create yours by clicking on this USask link.
