The Ministry of Health reported one death in its Friday COVID update—a person between the ages of 20 and 39 in the Saskatoon zone.
There were 69 new COVID cases reported, as well as 43 recoveries. The new cases were as follows: Saskatoon (20), Regina (13), southeast (11), central-east (6), south-central (6), north-central (5), and northwest, central-west and southwest zones all with one case each. Forty-three of the new cases were in unvaccinated residents. The number of Omicron variant cases remained at four.
Active cases rose for the second straight day to 653, with the Saskatoon zone having the highest number at 127.
There are 117 people being treated for COVID in Saskatchewan hospitals, with 33 in the intensive care unit. One Saskatchewan patient remains in an Ontario hospital.
There were 2,186 vaccinations reported on Friday, including 1,426 first doses.
