There is a gofundme page for the family of a former WHL hockey player, who died in an apparent farming accident.
Matt Swaby was 34 years old and leaves behind his wife Carla and their three boys, Thomas (6), Blake (4) and Kody (2)
The Prince Albert Fire Department posted on their Facebook page, “PAFD responded East of the City to a farm in the R.M. of Prince Albert where firefighters extricated a person trapped in a piece of farm machinery.”
The fund raiser says the money is to help Carla Swaby with the funeral, ranch expenses, and education.
Matt Swaby played three seasons with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League, before ending up with the Edmonton Oil Kings. He was named captain for the 2007-08 season, the team’s first year in the WHL. Following that, he played another three seasons with the University of Saskatchewan.
As of this morning $150,761 has been raised of a $175,000 goal.
