It’s my Parting Shot for some Monday Musings…
The old saying was, “Life begins at 40!” How about, “Life begins at 50!”…for Sherry Anderson, Patti Hersikorn, Brenda Goertzen and Anita Silvernagle (pictured, right to left) and their curling careers. Not only have they won back-to-back Canadian Senior Women’s championships…but they added the World title over the weekend in Sweden! Simply incredible!!
Just another example of how the score of a game has no bearing whatsoever on how the next game goes. Hands up, how many people thought Vegas’ 7-0 win in Game 1 of their N-H-L Western Conference semi-final over San Jose meant series over? C’mon, hands up…a lot more of you felt that way. Losing 7-0 or 1-0 doesn’t matter, the Golden Knights didn’t get an extra half a win for prevailing by seven goals! The Sharks won Game 2 4-3 in double overtime and the series is tied 1-1 going into Game 3 tonight in the Bay Area. Once again, figure it out, score and momentum are a non-factor in pro sports!
I realize there aren’t a lot of Winnipeg Jets fans, like me, out there in Saskatoon and area. But, for those of you out there…and bandwagon jumpers to come…do me a favour and don’t fly a Jets’ flag on your vehicle, please! That’s such an Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens or Calgary Flames’ fan thing to do! Yuck!!
Does anyone miss Gregg Zaun being Jamie Campbell’s sidekick on Toronto Blue Jays’ telecasts? Just asking!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk...
