601 new COVID-19 infections were reported today (thurs) in Saskatchewan, this setting a new single-day record of new cases as the single-day count passes 600 for the fist time since the start of the pandemic. Of the 601 new cases, 165 were in the Saskatoon zone. The Regina area accounted for the second most number of new cases with 98. 10 COVID related fatalities were reported in Thursday’s update. 307 are now in hospital with ICU admissions setting a new high with 72. The seven-day average for new cases is at 488. Just over one-third of the new cases were in the 20-39 age bracket. Of the 307 people in hospital who are eligible for vaccination, 74.3 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

- As of September 30th, there are 601 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 67,339 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (34), Far North East (14), North West (65), North Central (45), North East (14), Saskatoon (165), Central West (7), Central East (25), Regina (98), South West (34), South Central (24) and South East (43) zones and 33 new cases have pending residence information.
- 25 cases with pending residence information were reassigned to Far North West (from August 26 (1)), Far North East (from August 26 (1), August 28 (1), September 9 (1), September 17 (2), September 20 (2)), North West (from September 15 (1), September 24 (1), September 27 (1)), North Central (from September 15 (1), September 16 (1), September 27 (2), September 28 (1)), Saskatoon (from September 23 (1), September 25 (1), September 27 (2), September 28 (2)), Central East (from September 26 (1)), and Regina (from September 27 (1), September 28 (1)) zones.
- One (1) SK resident tested positive out-of-province was added to the Central East (from September 28 (1)) case count.
- 67,339 cases are confirmed
- 16,272 cases are from the North area (6,976 North West, 6,818 North Central, 2,478 North East)
- 16,265 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 13,641 cases are from the Regina area
- 8,221 cases are from the Far North area (3,856 Far North West, 533 Far North Central, 3,832 Far North East)
- 7,992 cases are from the South area (1,756 South West, 2,512 South Central, 3,724 South East)
- 4,418 cases are from the Central area (1,234 Central West, 3,184 Central East)
- 530 cases have pending residence information
- 4,669 cases are considered active and 61,975 cases are considered recovered.
- Above one-third (34.9%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
- One in seven (14.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of September 30th, a total of 307 individuals are hospitalized; including 235 inpatient hospitalizations, and 72 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 307 patients eligible for vaccination, 228 (74.3%) were not fully vaccinated.
- Ten (10) new deaths reported today. 695 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0%
- 1,134,094 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of September 28th, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 954,289 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,137,085 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 488 (40.5 new cases per 100,000).
