Forty-one years ago, Terry Fox dipped his leg in the Atlantic Ocean in St. John’s, Nfld. and his Marathon of Hope began, to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
Although his journey ended in Thunder Bay and he would pass away shortly afterward from his second cancer diagnosis, Terry Fox’s legacy continues to live on throughout Canada.
Every September, Canadians walk or run in Terry’s memory and continue to raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation.
In Saskatoon the Terry Fox Run is again virtual where organizers say supporters can unite in spirit, not in person. You can participate wherever you are be it around your neighborhood, backyard, down the street, or around the block. The way it works is you register online as an individual, family, or virtual team – start your fundraising today.
To date, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised about $850 million for cancer research. The Terry Fox School Runs are slated for September 29th.
