An air quality statement has been issued by Environment Canada. It affects all of northern Saskatchewan as well as the eastern half of central Saskatchewan, nearly to the American border.
Numerous forest fires in the north are producing localized areas of reduced visibilities and poor air quality due to smoke over the northern half of Saskatchewan. These fires will likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
In addition, east winds brought forest fire smoke from fires over eastern Manitoba westward into Saskatchewan. The smoke from Manitoba will likely start gradually thinning out today and Thursday as winds become southerly.
