The City of Saskatoon could be lowering property taxes by almost a whole percentage point which would bring it down to 3.79 per cent for 2018. Following the April 10th provincial budget, the province reinstated the SaskEnergy grants-in-lieu program. This means that funding from SaskEnergy will give the city $1.99 million dollars in 2018. Originally the city announced a property tax increase of 4.7 per cent although the recommendation from city administration to lower property taxes would see the increase come down by 0.91 per cent. The Governance and Priorities Committee will review the proposed rate today (mon) before it goes to city council.
