For much of Saskatchewan it was a normal spring day but for the south and east, it was a winter flashback. Road closures and travel not recommended affected most highways in that region of the province on Tuesday. The Indian Head RCMP detachment was on the scene of multiple collisions on the Trans-Canada Highway. Three miles east of Wolseley the eastbound lane of Highway 1 was completely blocked by a jack-knifed semi creating a lengthy back up of vehicles. Because of the dangerous road conditions in the area, RCMP were unable to re-route traffic. And last night the Highway Hotline was reporting road closed due to multiple semis blocking the westbound lane on Highway 1 near Broadview. Many highways are still suffering significant issues due to weather and motorists are urged to check the Highway Hotline before heading out. Earlier in the day, west of Regina, RCMP say they responded to a report of a semi that had jack-knifed across both westbound lanes of Highway 1 just west of the Grand Coulee exit. The road was cleared around noon. (with files from CKRM)
