This was an expensive trip for a 26 year old man from Limerick, southeast of Swift Current. Corman Park RCMP pulled his tractor-trailer unit over around 10:20 Thursday night, on Township Road 390, west of Warman. Vehicle weight on that road is limited to ten tonnes. RCMP say they would later determine the unit weighed in at over 25 tonnes.
When officers spoke to the driver, they asked for a breath test and the result was a reading of, WARN. Police allege finding cans of beer, some empty and some full, a small amount of cannabis, and a package of untaxed cigarettes. The say they also determined that the gate of the trailer was improperly fastened and the load was insecure. The man’s licence was suspended for three days and the truck was impounded. In all, six charges were laid with fines totaling $7,084.54. The heavy hitter was exceeding the weight limit that carried a fine of nearly $47 hundred dollars.
SGI investigators at their commercial vehicle division were also notified of the case
