A company called Choom has applied to the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming authority for cannabis retail permits in all 32 zones. There are 51 cannabis retail permits available through a Request for Proposal process. Choom has secured the rights to 16 retail locations in Alberta and B.C., subject to all necessary governmental approvals. The company says they are continuing to pursue licensing opportunities across the country. Choom was slang for marijuana in the 1970s in Hawaii.
The company’s headquarters is in Vancouver.
