One person is dead and another seriously injured as a result of a collision between a car and a semi at the intersection of Highways 16 and 9 in Yorkton on Monday.
At about 5 p.m., Yorkton R-C-M-P responded to the scene where a southbound car on Highway 9 collided with the rear trailer of a westbound semi on Highway 16. The 43-year-old male driver of the car from Churchbridge passed away while being taken to hospital by ambulance. The 42-year-old female passenger, also from Churchbridge, was reported to have sustained critical injuries and was transported to hospital in Regina by ambulance. The 67-year-old driver and lone occupant of the semi did not sustain any injuries. The investigation continues involving an R-C-M-P traffic reconstriuctionist, Yorkton R-C-M-P traffic services, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
