Alberta RCMP shot and killed a suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated assault in Onion Lake, Saskatchewan. On August 30th, Alberta RCMP received a, “Be on the lookout,” bulletin for a suspect believed to be in possession of a firearm and wanted for the assault. The suspect’s cellphone activity suggested a location west of Edmonton. The Alberta Emergency Response Team located the suspect vehicle on Highway 16 and attempted a traffic stop. It failed and a pursuit began. Near Entwistle, a tire deflation device was successful. Shortly after, an interaction with police occurred and officers fired on the suspect. He died at the scene. No officers were hurt. An investigation into the incident has begun.
