This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. So not wanting to jump on the ole conspiracy theory bandwagon but with the uptick in AI has anyone else noticed how many entities have been hacked? Last week word came out that numerous websites, including Canadian government sites, were taken offline so they could put in a patch to fix vulnerabilities in a widely used programming language. These vulnerabilities were discovered by AI. AI research firm Transluce said efforts to access Library and Archives Canada on May 28, and June 9 was an AI agent trying to hack a government website. Of course, there is the Crime Stoppers issue – none of the Crime Stopper programs in Saskatchewan are taking tips because there was a cybersecurity breach of the service provider it uses – called P3.I received an email this month from the loyalty program from Save On Foods which told me my More Rewards card information was hacked and they confirmed that my name and if provided – address phone number email addresses and date of birth – were accessed. Perhaps we’re experiencing a period of time where life imitates art. I just want to put it out there, you know back when, Sarah Connor was put in a mental health facility in Terminator 2: Judgment Day because she tried to blow up a computer factory for trying to blow up the company that would build the evil AI network.
