It’s my Parting Shot for some Weekend Short Shots…..
The first item is a review of something T-F-P said back on September 29. And, I quote – “In the end, The Fearless Predictor is predicting the Brewers will bring a World Series title to Milwaukee for the first time since Hank Aaron and the Braves defeated the Yankees in 1957. This time, it’ll be the Brewers in five games over Tampa Bay!” Well, lookie here – the World Series starts tonight in Milwaukee with the National League-champion Brewers hosting the A-L-C-S-winning Rays! No sense switching up how I feel about the set – I’m staying with Milwaukee winning the best-of-seven in five games!
There is still nothing I treasure more than running into former players who donned a Saskatoon Blades’ jersey during my now 33-year term as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Western Hockey League franchise! Last night, who sits three seats down from me in the media area at Rogers Place to watch the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes, but Ryan Bonni! Ryan played three-and-a-half seasons with the Bridge City Bunch from 1995 through near the end of the 1998 calendar year as a hard-nosed defensive defenceman. It was great to catch up with a fellow East Kildonan product from Winnipeg, working as an assistant coach with the University of Manitoba Bisons’ men’s team! And, that was only a part of a great visit and evening with several folks!!
So, it looks like the Connor Hellebuyck drama in Winnipeg may be delayed a few days. According to T-S-N’s Darren Dreger, quote, There is a sense that the Winnipeg Jets and Connor Hellebuyck could agree to delay the goaltender’s physical to avoid overshadowing the team’s Heritage Classic on Sunday. Hellebuyck’s suspension was set to be lifted today, and he will need to complete a physical in order to be restored to the active roster. I’ll make a prediction as to what happens, once the Jets and Montreal finish playing the outdoor game on Sunday at Princess Auto Stadium and Hellebuyck has his physical with the Jets. He’ll be assigned to the American League’s Manitoba Moose on a conditioning assignment, thus keeping him away from the N-H-L locker room, but close enough in Winnipeg to be ready for a deal that sends him elsewhere and ends this ridiculous chapter in league player versus team history!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
