Prince Albert is extending their condolences to communities after the Canadian Forces Base fire in Wainwright, Alberta took the lives of four soldier’s, including one from their own community.
The fire took place on Saturday and left four soldier’s dead. Within that group of soldier’s was Private Shaun Farrell from Prince Albert.
Prince Albert Mayor Bill Powalinsky says the hope is that the communities condolences and acts of kindness help the family to know their grief is shared.
“Shawn was not a retiring violet lets say. He was out their, in a way larger then life, he was a well known rugby player, a very athletic young man, a very pleasant young man. All of those attributes make it very very hard to accept the tragedy that happened.”
Powalinsky says the City also sends their condolences to the other communities experiencing the same loss as theirs.
In addition to the lives lost, the fire also left 39 injured and 19 in critical condition.
