Number of fatal accidents in Saskatchewan continues upward climb

As of Tuesday, at 8:45 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP reports there have been 74 fatal collisions with 89 fatalities on roadways policed by the Saskatchewan RCMP in 2026.

One of the most recent took place Saturday. Around 5:00 p.m., Ponteix RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway #4, approximately four kilometers south of Val Marie in southwest Saskatchewan.

Officers responded along with local fire and EMS and the sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 59-year-old male from Val Marie.

Ponteix RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
