A Saskatchewan RCMP crime reduction operation in the Prince Albert area from September 23 to 26 targeted a recent increase in break-and-enter incidents and resulted in significant enforcement activity.
Police reported no break-and-enter incidents during the operation, executed 14 warrants, laid 30 Criminal Code charges (including 20 impaired driving charges), suspended 23 driver’s licences, issued 147 warnings, and handed out 14 traffic tickets.
The operation involved multiple RCMP units patrolling Prince Albert and surrounding communities, including Big River, Ahtahkakoop, Pelican Lake, Shellbrook, Spiritwood, and Rosthern. Officers also spoke with more than 200 residents and provided crime prevention advice.
The initiative was launched after RCMP responded to 33 break-and-enter reports in September, up from 11 in August. Prince Albert RCMP Commander Stephen M. Hurst said the operation helped remove offenders from the community and was well received by residents.
