Thirty-nine-year-old Jered Waddington of Nipawin is facing multiple criminal charges after Nipawin/Smeaton RCMP seized a loaded handgun, illicit drugs, ammunition, cash, stolen property and drug trafficking paraphernalia during a traffic stop on September 26.
According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, officers stopped the vehicle around 4:15 a.m. for a license, registration and sobriety check.
Officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle, determined the driver was impaired, and arrested him.
A search led to the seizure of a loaded handgun, 21 grams of cocaine, four grams of methamphetamine, 44 grams of hydromorphone, fentanyl patches, ammunition, weapons, cash, identification belonging to other people, and a wallet previously reported stolen (pictured).
Waddington has been charged with impaired driving, multiple firearms offences, possession of stolen property, and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Thursday. The RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
