Residents interested in serving on the Saskatoon Public Schools board now have an opportunity to seek election in Ward 5.

Nominations have officially opened for the Ward 5 trustee by-election, which was called following the departure of former trustee Jennifer Scherman, who relocated out of province. Voters in the ward will head to the polls on October 28, to choose a new representative.

Candidates can submit nomination papers between September 9 and September 23. All nomination documents must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office at Saskatoon City Hall by 4 p.m. on September 23, and a $100 deposit is required.

Nomination forms are available online and can also be picked up at Saskatoon City Hall or the Saskatoon Public Schools Division Office.

Prospective candidates must meet eligibility requirements established by the City of Saskatoon, including residency and citizenship criteria. People signing nomination papers must also be eligible voters who reside within Ward 5.

The City of Saskatoon is overseeing the by-election and has additional information available regarding candidate eligibility, nomination requirements, and voting procedures.

The by-election will fill the vacant Ward 5 seat on the Saskatoon Public Schools board ahead of the October vote.
