Some combining was done last week in southern regions—but the provincial harvest remains significantly behind the five-year and ten-year averages of 25 per cent and 21 per cent respectively.

The new Saskatchewan Agriculture weekly crop report estimates 11 per cent of the crop is in the bin. The southwest has the most combining complete at 27 per cent. Then you go down to 11 per cent in the southeast, 8 per cent in west-central, five per cent in east-central and just one per cent combined in the northeast and northwest regions.

Breaking it down by crop, 48 per cent of lentils are off along with 44 percent of peas.  Barley is next at 16 per cent combined, oats 7 per cent, durum five per cent with spring wheat and canola only at one per cent.

Most areas of the province were dry last week—with some notable exceptions. Eighty-one millimetres of rain was recorded in the RM of Round Hill in the Rabbit Lake area. Emerald Lake and Meeting Lake had 76 and 68 millimetres of rain respectively. There was 44 millimetres of rain in the RM of Torch River in the northeast, along with 38 millimetres in the RM of Connaught and 29 millimetres in Kinistino.

Provincial cropland topsoil moisture is relatively stable at four per cent surplus, 49 per cent adequate, 37 per cent short and ten per cent very short.  Pasture condition ratings are three per cent excellent, 39 per cent good, 42 per cent fair, 14 per cent poor and two per cent very poor.
