It’s my Parting Shot for the return of The Fearless Predictor with another review of my C-F-L picks done while on holidays and a look at Week 10 predictions…..
If you go back to the July 17 edition of this commentary, you will find that I had all four, Week 7 games picked correctly as to who was going to win. That was Edmonton over B-C, Montreal over Calgary, Hamilton slipped past Toronto and Winnipeg got by Ottawa. Moving on to Week 8, you can trust me when I said I was 2-2, correctly picking Calgary and Montreal to win and not having Toronto and Edmonton prevailing – the Elks doing so in Regina over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I, also, didn’t have the Green and White winning the re-match last week in Edmonton – nor did I have B-C being victorious in Winnipeg – but I did have Calgary and Montreal winning! In fact, those two teams would be my picks, right now, to meet in the Grey Cup Game!
But, that’s still a long ways off!
Week 10 starts tonight with the Stampeders in Toronto – the Argonauts’ first real home game of the season after being punted from B-MO Field by the World Cup of Soccer. That won’t be enough of a factor for the Argos to lick the Stamps and Vernon Adams Junior. I’m taking Calgary by a little more than a field goal!
Tomorrow, the Riders are home against Ottawa in a classic “trap game!” The RedBlacks are 0-7 and due for a win. T-F-P is prepared to call the bluff of the trap as I go with Saskatchewan by more than a touchdown!
Saturday’s first game is being billed as the Game-of-the-Week – with pretty good reason – as the first place teams in both divisions square off with Edmonton at Montreal. The Elks won the first meeting at home back in June and the Alouettes will be somewhat fortunate to win the re-match by less than a field goal!
That leaves the battle of the Cats as Hamilton travels to B-C. The Lions are expected to have Nathan Rourke back at quarterback while the Tiger-Cats quarterback situation is a mess, hence I’m taking B-C by more than 10 points!
Overall for the season – T-F-P is 19-15, or 55.9 per cent. That’s below my personal target of 60 per cent, which will win you more money than you lose! Or so I think and hope!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
