It’s the perfect time for people looking for a theatre adventure in Saskatoon, since the Fringe Festival is back.

Fringe is a theatre festival, having a mix of dance, acting, and a musical this year. The festival features 25 different performing companies this year and has a mix of international, national, and local artistic talent. Things already kicked off for the festival yesterday (Thursday) and will keep going until August 8.
Fringe will also have an encore show on the ninth called “How To Play Guitar (Poorly)”.

Anita Smith, the Artistic and Executive Director of 25th Street Theatre, said the festival is open to anyone and everyone who wants to attend.

“There are so many people that come to the Fringe for the first time and then they kinda get hooked because it’s such an exciting place to be, it’s a bit of a gamble, you don’t know if the show you’re going to go see is going to be fantastic or not. It’s definitely a place that brings people together.”

The festival fun doesn’t stop at theatre performances though. Throughout the Fringe other activities will take place, such as Broadway Days, the Fringe Fun Run, and a trivia night. Broadway Days is the biggest of the three extra activities, taking place over the long weekend. Broadway Days features busker’s, carnival games, and a chance to learn circus arts all in W.E. Graham Park for free.
