Saskatoon Police Service says one man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer Wednesday evening. Around 7:30 p.m. a member of the Bike Unit patrolling downtown saw a man they thought was under the influence of an intoxicant and was interfering with a nearby business.
In a news release the police service says when the officer stopped to speak with the individual he immediately became verbally and physically confrontational towards police; following a brief struggle, additional officers arrived on scene, and the man was taken into custody. The 54-year-old man has been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer.
Around 3:45 a.m. Thursday Saskatoon Police responded to an assault in progress at an apartment building in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West. Officers located an injured woman near the front doors of the building. In a news release police say she was the victim of a domestic assault that took place in one of the suites. Officers went to the unit and arrested a suspect. A 24-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault by Suffocation.
