Arnolda Dufour Bowes has been named Saskatoon Public Library’s Writer in Residence for 2026/27.
The mother of three from Saskatoon is Cree-Métis iskwêw with family roots in Île à la Crosse, George Gordon First Nation, and Punnichy.
Bowes books have recived numrous awards and much praise. Her debut, 20.12m: A Short Story Collection of a Life Lived as a Road Allowance Métis, won the 2021 Danuta Gleed Literary Award and the 2022 High Plains Award for Best Indigenous Author.
Her novel, Maggie-Lou, Firefox, launched to critical acclaim. Its sequel, Maggie Meets Her Match, was named a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Title, and was selected as one of the Best Books of 2025.
Dufour Bowes currently works as the Playwright Resident at the Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre, and her play Apples & Train Tracks debuted in Saskatoon earlier this year.
