Following continued investigation, a homicide suspect has had his charged upgraded.

On May 8th, Shalayah Montgrand from Turnor Lake was found at a home in that community. She was injured and declared by EMS shortly after.

Then, police were able to charge 25-year-old Darian Montgrand with manslaughter, three counts, possession of firearm and ammunition contrary to conditions and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Now, by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit, the manslaughter charge has been upgraded to one count, second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear by CCTV in La Loche Provincial Court on Monday.
