The University of Saskatchewan’s Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence (LFCE) is a leading institution for forage crop and beef cattle production research in Western Canada..
Dr. Bart Lardner has been a driving force behind much of that research—such as beef cattle nutrition, forage and pasture management and cost effective heifer development. Even though, he is on sabbatical from the University of Saskatchewan, Lardner was at the LFCE annual field day on Tuesday. He supervises the research being done by ten graduate students and two post-doctoral students. In addition to his professor duties at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Lardner is also the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture Strategic Research Program Chair in Cow-Cow and Forage Systems.
CJWW Agriculture Director Neil Billinger interviewed Dr. Lardner at the LFCE annual summer field day on June 16th. The LFCE is located 8 kilometres south of Clavet, or about half-an-hour southeast of Saskatoon.
