A 53-year-old man has been charged with animanl abuse after he was observed choking and kicking his dog.

Police were called to an apartment in the 400 block of Maningas Bend in Evergreen on Friday at 7:25p.m.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested the man. They also located and seized numerous firearms from inside the unit and learned the man’s Possession and Acquisition Licence had been expired for multiple years.

Now, the man has been charged with Wilfully Causing Unnecessary Pain to His Dog by Kicking and Choking. He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on July 20th.

The dog was seized by police and turned over to Animal Control.
