A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has rocked several provinces and communities in the Philippines, causing over 30 deaths and much destruction.
Mainly impacted yesterday were the southern island of Mindanao, including the landlocked province of South Cotabato and its neighbouring communities.
Thirty-two people have been confirmed dead, but a report from Filipino-Canadian Association of Saskatchewan president Janine Lazaro says local officials expect it to rise as rescuers proceed through the rubble.
There is extensive damage to homes, schools, businesses, and critical infrastructure, leaving many families facing uncertainty and hardship.
