The Saskatoon Berries did all their scoring in the first two innings Thursday night and that turned out to be enough for a 7-4 win over the Moose Jaw Miller-Express before almost 13-hundred fans at Cairns Field.
Batting lead-off for a second straight game, veteran infielder Nathan Houston started each of the first two frames with base hits and came around to score as Saskatoon put up five runs in the first inning and two more in the second off Moose Jaw starting pitcher Jacob Glazener. After that, five Berries’ pitchers combined to slow up the Miller-Express’ potent offence. Muenster product Adam Korte got his second pitching victory as the first man out of the bullpen, following starter Owen Roberts. Brooks Jones, Brody Wrench and Dallen Rude finished up as Saskatoon improved to 5-1 for the season while Moose Jaw is 2-3 following their third straight loss. The Berries visit Swift Current Friday, then return home for games Saturday against Regina and Sunday versus Weyburn.
