A trio of robberies in Saskatoon over the Victoria Day long weekend with no arrests. According to a Saskatoon Police Service (S-P-S) news release – in two of the incidents, thieves made off with a victim’s property while the third robbery was not successful.
The unsuccessful attempt happened back on Saturday at around 10:30 p.m. at a restaurant in the 200 block of 33rd Street West. Officers arrived to learn that two men entered the restaurant, brandishing a knife and what appeared to be the handle of a firearm and demanded cash. When they didn’t get anything, they fled and were last seen running eastbound on 33rd Street.
Both of the robberies in which a victim’s property was taken happened about 75 minutes apart on Monday. First, at about 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a parking lot in the 1600 block of 22nd Street West and found a victim suffering from injuries from a physical assault. The 38-year-old man said his cell phone and cash were taken by the suspects who fled before police arrived. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
The next incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday when a man walking in the 200 block of Avenue R South was approached by another man armed with a sawed-off shotgun. The two males entered a residence where the victim was robbed of his cell phone, sweater and hat. The victim fled the residence uninjured while the suspect remains at large.
In all three instances, the S-P-S continues to investigate while asking for anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers.
