Like March, April continued the cold trend over Saskatchewan, with Key Lake recording its 2nd coldest April on record and La Ronge its 5th coldest. A persistent Arctic airmass over the Northwest Territories and the northern Prairies was largely the cause of these cold temperatures, extending almost everywhere over Saskatchewan.

April was another active month with multiple low-pressure systems tracking across the northern grain belt. Most notably was a significant snowfall event on April 22-25 that impacted north and central Saskatchewan. All northern stations recorder over 100% of their average April precipitation, whereas the extreme south recorded only a fraction of their average precipitation.
